Let’s face it, nausea is a symptom we have all encountered whether it’s from anxiety, a health condition, a change in your diet, or even a hangover. Delta 8 is a subtle yet effective option to combat this uncomfortable commonality amongst us humans. Nausea can prevent us from enjoying the simplicities of life and tackling our everyday tasks
In this article, we dive into the science behind using Delta 8 for nausea, what consumption method may be best, and everything you need to know about combatting your tummy trouble using Delta 8.
What is Delta 8?
Delta 8 is a cannabinoid derived from natural cannabis plants. It is similar to the main psychoactive component Delta 9 THC however it differs in potency and psychoactivity. Many refer to Delta 8 as “diet weed” due to its “lighter” effects. Delta 8 is the better option for nausea relief as Delta 9 can be too potent and can potentially cause adverse effects.
Not only can Delta 8 be beneficial to relieving such symptoms as nausea, it is naturally occurring and comes in a variety of different consumption options! Having different options when it comes to taking Delta 8 for nausea is a huge PLUS. There are edibles, vapes, tinctures, and more to choose from to tailor your perfect cocktail for Delta 8 nausea relief.
How Delta 8 Helps with Nausea
Delta 8 works by binding to CB1 receptors in the brain that directly report to our nervous system. These receptors play a direct role in our body’s appetite control, mood regulation, pain sensitivity, and nausea. Our CB1 receptors are found within our body’s endocannabinoid system – this system maintains the homeostasis of our body. Homeostasis = balance and happy internal functions!
Research shows the use of Delta 8 to combat chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting is effective for many. One study in particular focused on different cannabinoids and consumption methods to aid in the symptoms brought on by toxicity from chemotherapy to truly display the antiemetic effects of Delta 8. Antiemetic refers to any type of medication that diminishes the effects causing nausea or vomiting. Although there are many over the counter or prescription options offered to cancer patients to help with negative side effects of chemotherapy – Delta 8 offers a natural and affordable option that may be safer for your body in the long run.
Further research is being conducted on different types of health conditions that may cause severe nausea such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Essentially if it causes nausea – Delta 8 and its functionality of binding to receptors within the GI tract could potentially bring relief to you via decreasing inflammation, improving appetite, and in turn minimizing the onset of nausea and vomiting.

My roommate has cancer. After her chemotherapy we use the gummies to get her through the headaches and nausea. They work great. Everyone in this situation NEEDS to use them. I have seen the best results with Moonwalker. We will definitely keep ordering them from you!

Other Delta 8 Benefits for Nausea
Delta 8 not only provides relief from nausea, this cannabinoid offers many other benefits that can improve your day to day. The use of Delta 8 can enhance your mood, alleviate your anxiety, increase your appetite, and improve your overall wellbeing and health!
Mild Psychoactive Effects
As previously mentioned, Delta 8 is less psychoactive than Delta 9 THC. Thus, with the right dosage for you there is less likelihood of being overwhelmed due to psychoactive effects. The mild onset of psychoactivity offers a perfect balance of therapeutic benefits and euphoria. Delta 8 allows you to not only relieve nausea but it can enhance your mood and heighten your positive mentality.
Reduced Anxiety and Stress
Delta 8 can also help manage stress and anxiety. The CB1 receptors directly influence our ability to regulate emotions, respond to stress, and manage anxiety. As Delta 8 activates these receptors, mood enhancing neurotransmitters are released within our body such as serotonin and dopamine. In turn, you should expect a calming effect that lowers your anxiety levels and helps you maintain a better state of mind.
Enhanced Appetite
Studies have also shown that Delta 8 can increase appetite and regulate your metabolism. Those infamous CB1 receptors also control our bodies’ satiability. When Delta 8 binds with these receptors it is also releasing Ghrelin – the hunger hormone! Nausea may cause you to lose your appetite completely – let’s be real, who wants to eat anything when you feel like you might just throw it up? This additional benefit of Delta 8 further accompanies the reduction of nausea and vomiting.

Improved Overall Wellbeing
It is undeniable that the above benefits of Delta 8 help improve our bodies internal functions. When you have better peace of mind with reduced stress and anxiety – your mental game is bound to be stronger. When your mind is stable – your physical fitness typically follows. Delta 8 can help calm the storm that is our brain, whilst improving our sleep patterns, increasing our appetite, and managing pain – as well as nausea!
How to Use Delta 8 for Nausea Relief
We all understand the crippling effects of nausea. Once you start feeling that ache in your stomach coming – you can try Delta 8 for relief! Start with a low dosage, choose the Delta 8 product that is best for your personal preference and needs, and consider your tasks for the day to know when the best time may be to consume Delta 8. Take some time to monitor your response to Delta 8, how long it takes for your nausea to subside and use this information to adjust your Delta 8 intake next time you experience nausea.
Choosing the Right Delta 8 Product for Nausea
Your experience with nausea is going to be different than the experience others may have – whether it’s from chemotherapy, IBS, anxiety, or your Sunday morning hangover. That’s why Delta 8 is an incredible alternative to other anti-nausea medications or methods – as it comes in a variety of intake options! The availability of vapes, edibles, and tinctures allows for you to personalize your own experience when combatting nausea with Delta 8.
Delta 8 Vapes for Nausea
Many people opt for Delta 8 vapes instead of oral consumption when it comes to nausea – as we all know how difficult it can be to eat anything whilst on the verge of throwing up (or feeling like it). Inhaling Delta 8 via a vape has a faster onset of effects than waiting for your body to digest an edible or other orally consumed Delta 8 option.
One user reported that inhaling Delta 8 via a smokeable, provided better relief than edibles.
Good stuff
Better at dulling nausea and increasing appetite over gummies. Pretty smooth.

Delta 8 Gummies for Nausea
Delta 8 gummies are offered in a plethora of flavors! Therefore, if there is a certain taste that may set your nausea off further or even the opposite – one flavor that your body still craves even when nauseous – you’ll be able to avoid it or find it in the form of a Delta 8 gummy.
Let’s say you have a chemotherapy treatment scheduled at 9AM. Understanding that gummies can take a bit longer to digest than an inhalable could be beneficial when your nausea is – essentially scheduled. You know that a couple hours after your treatment you’ll be curled up in a ball with the inability to eat anything. Gummies allow you to get ahead of the nausea by eating one in a timely manner for the Delta 8 to fight the symptoms of nausea BEFORE it hits.
Delta 8 Tinctures for Nausea
Delta 8 tinctures are another great option for nausea relief. Tinctures can be dropped directly onto your tongue for faster digestion than an edible, but still a bit slower than directly inhaling from a vape. Thus, the perfect middle ground between vapes and gummies. The best part – you can drop tinctures into a drink or onto food of your choice. Thus, if you’re already drinking a ginger ale to help ease your tummy, you could add Delta 8 to it via a tincture! Tinctures also offer the most precision when it comes to dosage. Most tinctures come with a dropper that should have measurements displayed for the perfect drop.
Delta 8 Dosage for Nausea
You’re probably asking yourself, how much Delta 8 should I take to help alleviate nausea? The right Delta 8 dosage for you will be different for others. Your individual tolerance, food intake, body composition, and the product itself are all factors that influence how much Delta 8 you should consume. For individuals that have a low tolerance or are new to Delta 8, you should consider starting slow and trying half of the recommended dosage for the particular product and brand you decided to source your Delta 8 from.
Anywhere from 5-15 mg of Delta 8 per serving is recommended for those with a low tolerance. Those with a high tolerance and experience with cannabinoid usage such as Delta 8 could benefit with anywhere from 45 – 150 mg. If you find yourself somewhat experienced with a middle of the road tolerance, 15 – 45 mg of Delta 8 may be right for you!
Again, you must keep in mind that your dosage will differ by the type of Delta 8 product you choose. Below is our recommended dosage per each of Moonwlkr’s Delta 8 products.

When to Take Delta 8 for Nausea
Timing is everything – yes that applies to when you should take Delta 8 for nausea as well! Now that you have the tools to choose the right dosage for you, it’s important to figure out WHEN you should take said dosage. We recommend always allowing anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours for the effects of Delta 8 to kick in, especially depending on which product you choose. Vapes have a faster onset of action compared to tinctures and gummies. This grace period allows you to gauge if you should increase your dosage slowly or if you may even want to decrease next time. Remember the following:
- Set a timer or note the time at which you take your Delta 8.
- Wait 45 minutes to 2 hours for the effects to kick in.
- Note what you’re feeling – did your nausea subside or is it worse?
- Adjust your dosage as needed – if your nausea went away – perfect! If it lessened but you feel it wasn’t enough increase your dosage a little bit at a time. If you felt more nauseous, consider decreasing your dosage or trying a different method of consumption.
- Plan ahead – if you know a trigger for nausea is coming, take your Delta 8 in time for it to kick in before the nausea even starts.
Delta 8 can be extremely effective in your journey to settling your stomach. However, your dosage and timing will be the deciding factors in your personal experience with Delta 8.
Is Taking Delta 8 for Nausea Safe?
Delta 8 has been a commonly used cannabinoid for quite some time. There are a number of studies and research that display the potential for medicinal benefits especially when referring to nausea. However, there are potential side effects you should consider before trying Delta 8 for relief. Here are some helpful tips to a positive Delta 8 journey:
- Talk to your healthcare provider – having a greenlight from a professional is the best way to eliminate any potential risks to your personal health.
- Start slow and low – do not overdo it! Start with a low dosage and slowly increase as needed.
- Delta 8 in higher amounts may cause anxiety, paranoia, and an altered state of mind. Although the psychoactive effects of Delta 8 are mild compared to Delta 9 – it is still in fact psychoactive. This is why finding the correct dosage for you is of the utmost importance.
- Consider your food intake – we know you’re nauseous, that’s why you’re here. If you take Delta 8 on an empty stomach it may cause further irritation. This is where planning ahead comes back into play. If you start your day with no nausea, make sure to eat something while you can. Then, if and when nausea sets in – you can take Delta 8 knowing you’re not running on empty.
- Drink plenty of water – this should go without saying – be we’re saying it in case you forgot today! Water keeps you hydrated and helps improve the function of your entire body. Be sure to keep water nearby when taking Delta 8 as it can cause dry mouth for some.

-Claudia M. | Delta 8 Gummies – Blue Dream Berry
Okay ladies and gentlemen, this is a long one – but this review is a perfect example of how those dealing with certain health conditions REALLY find relief with Delta 8 for nausea.
CHRONIC NAUSEA/VOMITING??? CHECK THESE OUT!!!
TLDR/Sorry. Very impressed!!! If nausea/vomiting is an issue for you, I must recommend Delta-8! I see many beneficial qualities listed, but I haven’t seen anything (unless I missed it) regarding the potent anti-emetic properties of Delta-8. I have a debilitating chronic illness called Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. I deal w/ this illness constantly, even when not actively vomiting. I am also a Medical Marijuana patient. I have tried numerous products to lessen my nausea/vomiting, but nothing has seemed to work that well. I purchased the Sample Pack on a whim. Without much knowledge of Delta-8, I noticed an improvement. Thought it was a fluke. Another gummy, less nausea/vomiting. W/ one gummy left in the Sample Pack, I immediately purchased 2 bottles. While awaiting their arrival, I looked more into Delta-8 for the treatment/prevention/management of nausea/vomiting. I found that there was a study done on Pediatric Oncology patients who were experiencing severe nausea/vomiting after Chemotherapy. The patients were given drops of Delta-8 2hrs before treatment, & then every 6hrs for 24hrs following treatment. Over 480 cases, a 100% success rate was reported. So, due to Delta-8, 480 nausea/vomiting episodes were apparently avoided in children w/ cancer. People may debate the morals/ethics of giving any form of THC to children, but if I was that child, a caregiver, a Doctor, or a parent, there would be no debate on helping improve the quality of life of a child who may not even survive.
That aside, I personally recommend Delta-8 for nausea/vomiting. I have dealt w/ this condition for years, I have countless knots & bands of scar tissue from repeated IM Phenergen injections, gastritis, gastroparesis, damage to my Vagus nerve, a ruptured diaphragm that has caused a massive sliding hiatal hernia that I’m told can never be surgically repaired, etc. It’s about 0730 now, I took a gummy around an hour ago, & I’m typing this w/ relief. Actual relief. No one can understand how debilitating & incapacitating chronic nausea/vomiting is, unless one unfortunately experiences it, which is something I wish on no person. Thank you, Moonwlkr. Y’all might have just given me a part of my life back. (I’m a pessimist. That’s not doubting your products.) I could seriously cry right now. I probably will cry. After living w/ something for so long, it can become “normal,” no matter how abnormal it actually is. It’s become so “normal” that I haven’t realized how truly awful it’s been until it’s not so awful. So yeah, got the pukes? Delta-8 is recommended. Also, search for “Delta-8 used for nausea and vomiting” if you’re interested on some research. This is still a new discovery & more studies, trials, etc. are surely to follow. Thanks again, Moonwlkr! I might look forward to actually eating food today!
